He began his studies at the University of Hamburg, majoring in Physics with minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. He later obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley. For his graduate studies, he returned to the University of Hamburg, where he earned a Master's degree in Theoretical Physics and conducted Ph.D. research at DESY and the University of Hamburg on long-term proton beam stability. After completing post-doctoral work at DESY, he joined CERN as a fellow. He has held several important positions within the organization and is currently the HL-LHC Project Leader at CERN.
